Itinerary
Day 1: Overnight transatlantic flight.
Day 2: After arrival in GERMANY, we drive to RUHPOLDING, high in the Alps, to our Alpine chalet hotel, home for the next week. We will explore the town and practice basic phrases before going to our hotel for check-in and dinner.

Day 3:This morning, as every morning, we begin with a new lesson. If you prefer, you may hike in the mountains, bike on the paths, swim in the nearby spa or lake, or just sleep late. For those learning German, the morning is broken up into instruction, practice, partnering, short readings and breaks. It will never become dull or boring. This afternoon we will spend time in Ruhpolding or a neighboring village to practice speaking with local merchants. This is voluntary! You don´t have to speak until you feel you are ready.
Day 4:After this morning's lesson we travel to MUNICH, the capital of Bavaria. You will experience the city and also have opportunities to practice the increasing word and structure skills you have learned. You will always carry cards that indicate you are learning German and that the merchant should speak German, not English, with you. After you try it once or twice you will look forward to using the language!

Day 5:Following instruction we will visit SALZBURG, AUSTRIA. Site of "The Sound of Music", it is a perfect mix of beauty, history, and charm. It is also another chance to speak to others in even more situations.
Day 6: Later in the morning we drive to the Hofbräu Brewery in Traunstein for a brewery tour and some conversation with our guide. By this time you will be quite comfortable in expressing what you want to order in a restaurant, how to pay for a ticket or in asking how much an item costs, all essential skills.
Day 7:After a shorter session today, we cross Lake Chiemsee by ship to visit the stupendous HERRENCHIEMSEE CASTLE on an island in the middle of LAKE CHIEM. A copy of Versailles, it is a wonder to see. During lunch at the island´s cafe, you will order your meal, ask for the bill and thank the waiter--all on your own in German!

Day 8: Transfer to the airport to board our transatlantic flight back to the USA.
